Every day, brave men and women in our police, fire, sheriff and emergency medical services departments risk their lives to protect ours. Sometimes those risks are brought home in the most tragic of ways. That’s why when a sworn officer makes the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty, the 200 Club of Guilford County is there to offer immediate financial assistance to his or her family.

The 200 Club movement began over 50 years ago when a young officer in Detroit, Michigan was fatally shot in the line of duty. One man, moved by this tragic event, wrote to 200 of his friends, asking them to donate to a fund for the officer’s wife and child. He received a 100% response and used the donated funds to help the widow meet most of her and her child’s immediate and future financial needs.
