Introduction

Every day, brave men and women in our police fire, sheriff and emergency medical services departments risk their lives to protect ours. Sometimes those risks are brought home in the most tragic of ways. That’s why when a sworn officer makes the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty, the 200 Club of Guilford County is there to offer immediate financial assistance to his or her family.

After a fatality, the 200 Club provides the surviving spouse or dependent children a check to take care of immediate needs. Within the next two weeks, the 200 Club meets with the family to evaluate and assist with any outstanding debts. Dependent children are also eligible for educational assistance.

Covered expenses may include:

  • Funeral expenses
  • Medical bills
  • Debt repayment
  • Utility bills
  • Leases
  • Educational assistance for the surviving spouse or dependant children

Other services available to families

  • Negotiating with banks and mortgage companies to have any remaining debts rewritten at the best possible rate

The 200 Club of Guilford County is an initiative spearheaded by Randy Hall, an active member of the Greensboro Merchants Association (link to http://www.mygma.org) and its Council on Crime Prevention and Public Safety.
